The name 'Nanga Parbat' means 'naked mountain' in Urdu. The mountain is invariably known as Nanga Parbat; 'the Naked Mountain' is not, as the question might seem to imply, an alternative name. It is however used as a sort of nickname, particuarly by people who are after an eye–catching title for a book, magazine article or documentary film.
